The only bit you do

How a quote for window fitters gets built.

Walk the house and say it: five uPVC windows, a composite front door, a patio set on the back, two misted units. It comes back priced per opening off your own rates, with the VAT worked out.

  • Say it or photo it

Voice note the survey, or photo the openings. Windows, doors, patio sets, misted units and repairs come back as separate priced lines.

  • It measures, you check

Put a tape in shot, tap two points and it measures. Anything you didn't measure is marked for you to check.

  • Priced from your rates

Priced from your own per opening rates. Windows and doors starts you at £650 for a supplied and fitted uPVC window, £1,250 for a composite front door, £1,600 for a patio set and a £240 day rate, and you change every figure to yours.

The materials come with it

Frames, foam, silicone, trims and trickle vents come off the openings you priced, so the take off is ready when the quote is. Swap in your own supplier's prices in a tap.

You can put a names only list on the customer's copy so they can see what you are supplying, with your buying and your markup kept to yourself.

After you tap Send

Most apps stop at the quote.
Yours keeps going.

A quote is the easy half. The half that eats your evenings is the deposit, the diary, the invoice and the chasing. That is the half InstaQuote does for you.

  1. The deposit

You set the deposit on the quote. The customer pays it by card from the link on their phone, with nothing to install, and it lands in your account through Stripe.

  2. The booking

The deposit books the job. They pick a free slot themselves, they get the confirmation and the reminder, and they can move it themselves from the same link.

  3. The calendar

Your week fills in as the deposits land, and it syncs to Google so the diary on your phone matches the one in the van.

  4. The materials

The take off from the quote is ready to go to your merchants for a price, with your markup on it and kept on your side of the paperwork.

  5. The invoice

Mark the job done and the invoice is drafted for you, priced off the quote with the extras you added on site. One tap and it's gone.

  6. The chasing

If it goes past its date, polite nudges go out in your name until it is paid. Three at most, then it stops and tells you. You are not the bad guy and you are not on the phone.

  7. VAT and CIS

Work for a builder, a contractor or a developer and the CIS deduction and the VAT reverse charge are worked out on the quote and on the invoice. Work straight for a homeowner and they stay off. You set it per customer, not per quote.

  8. The books

On the Accounts plan (£89/mo) it keeps the books behind all of it: expenses, what each job actually made, and your VAT return figures ready for you or your accountant to file with HMRC.

The money questions (the trial, cancelling, your data) are answered on the homepage FAQ, and the how-to guides are in Answers.

Can I quote supply and fit and fitting only?

Yes. A supplied and fitted uPVC window is £650 to start, fitting a customer supplied one is £180, so the two never get mixed up on the quote or in the materials list.

Can I price small jobs like a misted unit or a handle?

Yes, and they are quicker to quote than to write down: a misted unit at £140, a handle or hinge repair at £65. They still get invoiced and chased like any other job.

Does it issue my FENSA or Building Regs certificate?

No. That comes from your scheme, and we will not claim otherwise. InstaQuote quotes the work, takes the deposit, books it in, invoices it and chases it if it goes unpaid.

Can I take a deposit before I order the frames?

Yes, and most fitters do. Set the deposit on the quote, the customer pays it by card on their phone, and the fitting date books itself into your calendar.

Sunday nights back.

Quote the job in about a minute from your own rates. Then it takes the deposit, books the job in, drafts the invoice, chases the money and works out the VAT and CIS. You just turn up and do the work.
